Loviste is a small place located in one of the most beautiful bays on the Peljesac peninsula. The area of Loviste includes about 4 km of coastline with numerous bays and natural beaches. The climate in Loviste is ideal for tourism. The main bay always has warmer seas, and the number of hours of sunshine per year exceeds 3,000.
The place is well known for the production of figs, almonds and carob. In the northern part of the cove of Luka is the hamlet of Mirce, popular with tourists. Mirce is a bay that is a well-protected haven for sailors and passers-by.What attracts tourists to Loviste the most are the natural beauty, special gastronomic offer and a unique feeling of relaxation, so many long-term visitors to Loviste call it "Oasis of Peace".
In the middle of the 19th century, Loviste was established by settlers from the town Bogomolja on the island of Hvar which is just across the channel. In Roman times it was a port on the maritime communication between Korcula (Korkyra Nigra) and Narona (Vid near Metkovic). From that time, traces of a Roman villa rustica have been found in Loviste. There is also the church of the Heart of Mary from 1885.
This small fisherman’s village is located 17 km from Orebic, on the route via Kuciste and Viganj. The nearest airport is Dubrovnik Airport (3 hrs drive away)
