Vela Luka is the youngest island settlement and at the same time a place of inspiration and the birthplace of many artists.
An untouched oasis, surrounded by clear turquoise sea and dense pine forest, kilometers of endless borders and centuries-old olive groves, with more than 100 km of hiking and cycling trails, Vela Luka is a true paradise for lovers of nature and active tourism. Due to the protected and deep bay, Vela Luka is also the safest yachting port in the southern Adriatic.
Above the town, facing the sea and the sun, is the Vela Spila, the most important archaeological site in the Mediterranean and the origin of modern civilization. The beautiful view of the bay from the more than 20,000-year-old cave leaves no one indifferent. Vela Luka abounds with beautiful beaches, hidden bays, and small islands. The islands of Ošjak and Proizd are stunningly beautiful, with a clear turquoise sea and untouched nature, so they are a paradise for swimmers and lovers of underwater exploration.
